The
original sin of Adam and Eve was based on their false belief that they would
not die if they disobeyed God.
4 But the serpent said
to the woman, “You will not surely die. 5 For God knows that when
you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good
and evil.”
Since this original sin so many
people have fallen prey to the same sin: That if they merely assert their
position of independence from God’s law that they will face no repercussions
for their actions. In this sinful rebellion from God’s law man seeks to usurp
God’s position of judge of what is right and wrong.
